Former Bravo Producer Patrick McDonald on Heather Gay, Scandoval + Production Secrets & RHOSLC Chat

Former Bravo producer Patrick McDonald from Renegade Rainbow joins Kaya for a very special crossover episode! Patrick opens up about his journey from reality star to Bravo producer, getting his start on Married to Medicine, working across RHOA, RHOBH, Vanderpump Rules and more, and eventually earning an Emmy nomination for his work during the Scandoval era. Then we get into some serious behind-the-scenes Bravo tea: the Porsha’s Family Matters fight that was MUCH wilder than viewers saw, how Ken Todd ended up delivering one of Scandoval’s most iconic lines, what Garcelle and Candiace were really like behind the scenes, Heather Gay’s black-eye controversy, Summer House’s leaked audio and why problematic cast members sometimes still make it onto these shows. After all that, Patrick sticks around to recap RHOSLC Season 7 Episode 2 with Kaya. We’re talking Whitney and Justin’s marriage, Bronwyn’s new man, Meredith’s facelift, Lisa and Angie on the ski slopes, Heather Gay, and the group finally getting back to the petty fighting Salt Lake City does best.SUBSCRIBE TO RENEGADE RAINBOW: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/renegade-rainbow/id6810374652FOLLOW PATRICK: https://www.instagram.com/thepatrickmcdonald?stkn=YmF1YW1wbThtOXVkSUBSCRIBE TO RENEGADE RAINBOW'S YOUTUBE:https://youtube.com/@renegaderainbow?si=HDZr96rbrXEH4KnI00:41 — Patrick McDonald joins Bravo We’re Black01:34 — From working in TV to Fire Island, addiction and recovery11:11 — How Patrick found his way back into production18:32 — Married to Medicine becomes his first Bravo production job20:21 — Scandoval, his Emmy nomination & producing major Bravo moments27:22 — What Garcelle was REALLY like behind the scenes30:01 — Why Patrick says people misunderstand Candiace34:38 — The Porsha’s Family Matters fight was WAY crazier than what aired44:48 — How Patrick created Ken Todd’s iconic Scandoval moment48:42 — Bravo mysteries: Does Quad really live in Africa?50:00 — Heather Gay’s black eye & why the production accusation crossed a line53:46 — Why the Summer House leaked-audio drama may have been left out57:09 — Are blogs and podcasts hurting Housewives storylines?1:00:21 — New Housewives immediately coming for the OG1:02:42 — Does casting celebrities help or hurt Housewives?1:05:25 — Why problematic people STILL get cast on reality TV1:09:05 — Patrick launches Renegade Rainbow + his dream guest1:13:12 — RHOSLC Season 7 Episode 2 recap begins1:19:39 — Whitney & Justin…is this marriage already over?1:26:02 — Bronwyn’s new man Brandon Good enters the chat1:31:39 — Meredith’s facelift, the wig & Whitney trying to apologize1:34:39 — Lisa Barlow said absolutely NOT to skiing1:36:17 — Angie, Lisa & our Heather Gay frustrations1:42:42 — The dinner explodes: Meredith, Heather, Bronwyn, Angie & Lisa1:45:33 — Where to follow Patrick + Renegade RainbowFOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM HERESUBSCRIBE TO OUR PATREON HEREOH YEAH WE ON THREADS HEREWHAT?
