On June 23, 2021, twenty-four-year-old geologist Daniel Robinson drove his Jeep out to a work site in the Arizona desert near Buckeye and vanished. His vehicle was found weeks later, rolled down a ravine miles from where he'd last been seen. His remains weren't discovered until over a year later. Daniel was Black, and his father David spent years doing the searching that authorities seemed reluctant to do driving the desert himself, refusing to let his son become a footnote.
