“Hot Takes and Hyperpop” with Sophia Anne Caruso

Dylan and Connor are joined by Sophia Anne Caruso (Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, Beetlejuice). The first treat of spooky season is having this star join us for DRAMA! Sophia is currently starring in the late Duncan Sheik’s final musical, while simultaneously releasing her debut hyperpop album: ON ECSTATIC. Busy! Woman! We dive into Sophia’s original music, touching upon: inspiration, collaborators, and pioneers of the genre SOPHIE and Björk. Trust we get the tea on the duet with Sophia’s partner Sky Lakota-Lynch, their love story, and respective experiences with Broadway fandoms. Nothing is off the table as we discuss the dangers of going viral and the double edged sword of being the “Dead Mom Girl” while building a multi-faceted career. This performer, writer, painter, person also touches on rocking her short red hairstyle and why she shed her platinum blonde look to embrace a new era. These three connect over a love for Duncan Sheik, stories from Grey House on Broadway, celebrity-driven productions, and the gaggy Jeremy O. Harris viral interview. Head over to The Night Egg at The Culture Club to see Sophia star in Duncan Sheik’s powerful final musical, Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen.Follow Sophia on InstagramFollow DRAMA. on Twitter & Instagram & TiktokFollow Connor MacDowell on Twitter & InstagramFollow Dylan MacDowell on Twitter & InstagramSubscribe to our show on iHeartRadio Broadway!Support the podcast by subscribing to DRAMA+, which also includes bonus episodes, Instagram Close Friends content, and more!
