In 1921, one of the most prosperous Black communities in America was attacked, burned, and nearly erased from public memory.  The Greenwood District of Tulsa, known as Black Wall Street, became the site of one of the worst acts of racial violence in American history.  The number of estimated dead was in the hundreds. Thousands of Black residents were left homeless, and hundreds of homes and businesses were burned. Yet for decades, the story was largely unknown.
