In 2024, Green Chemistry, a journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry focusing on cutting-edge research on sustainable technologies, celebrated it's 25th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, the Green and Sustainable Chemistry Symposium was hosted at the University of York, UK. Come along with Dan and Elsa as they visit the symposium and talk all things green chemistry with students, university researchers and guest speakers!Hear first-hand accounts of what it means to study and work in the field of green chemistry, and perhaps, come out feeling inspired to live a greener life.
Join Dan & Elsa as they each tell the story of a chemist that has notably contributed to the science of green chemistry, even if that's not what they intended to do when they started their careers! In this episode the pair dive into the lives of Percy Julian, a pioneer in the chemical synthesis of medicinal drugs from plants, and Claude Grison, winner of the European Inventor Award 2022 for her work on using plants to extract metal elements from polluted soil.
