Hello hockey fans, episode 213 of the Hockey Free For All Podcast has arrived for you enjoyment. This episode’s topics include- #1. Montreal’s rebuild is its final stages. #2. Tampa or Buffalo was not Montreal’s biggest challenge. The Carolina Hurricanes are the real Challenge. #3. Prospects Alexander Zharovsky and Michael Hage are returning to the KHL and Big-10, so they are now non factors for the 2026/2027 season. #4. Are David Reinbacher, Florian Xhekaj, Luke Tuch, Tyler Thorpe, Owen Beck and Sean Farrell ready or not? #5. The Montreal Canadiens need Florian Xhekaj, Luke Tuch, Tyler Thorpe. The playoffs have proved that. #6. The Montreal Canadiens do not need to acquire anyone from outside its organization, they have everything they need within it! #7. The 2025/2026 playoffs have served notice to the Canadiens defense and style. #8. Adam Engstrom is ready to take a regular roster spot. #9. Is OHL of the year player right-handed defensive prospect Bryce Pickford ready? #10. Where does Bogden Konyushkov fit in? #11. The two issues that need to be answered in Montreal, are defensive style and grit! #12. What about Yevgeni Volokhin? #13. Jakub Dobes has been lights out. #14. With the evolution of Jakub Dober, what change for Jacob Fowlers? #15. The Las Vegas Golden Knights sweep the Colorado Avalanche in 4 straight! #19. The Las Vegas Golden Knights have been like no other expansion team in any sports. #20. It’s been 22 years since John Tortarella went to the Stanley Cup Finals. #21. What happened to the Colorado avalanche? #22. How bad is Cale Makar’s injury really? #23. The Carolina Hurricanes looked out of sync in game 1, but have been in sync in games 2, 3 and 4 to perfection. #24. If Caolina does eliminate Montreal, I really want to see Las Vegas win the Cup. #25. Does anyone else want to see NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman have to present the Stanley Cup to H.C. John Tortarella or to Owner Bill Foley as badly as I do? That’s Karma in its truest sense. #25. If Las Vegas wins the cup, it be like watching a replay of the Patriots coming back against Atlanta. #25. Las Vegas Golden Knights Owner Bill Folley should call for a no confidence vote. #26. Bill Folley should take the NHL to court, in the same manner that Al Davis took the NFL to court. The penalties levied by the NHL against the Las Vegas Golden Knights were unjustified, excessive, an overreach of power and an abuse of power. #27. Don’t agree, a quote from A.I./Google. League commissioners in professional sports are employees of the team owners, hired to act as the chief executives of the league. The commissioner serves at the pleasure of the owners and is tasked with executing their shared business interests, meaning the ultimate power rests with the ownership.
Hello hockey fans out there, episode 212 of the Hockey Free For All Podcast has arrived to get you caught up on the NHL playoff as well as all other types of activity going on in the NHL #1. The NHL has clearly overreached with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. #2. The NHL clearly gone too far with the amount of fine they handed down to Las Vegas Golden Knights Head Coach John Tortarella. Excessive is an understatement! #3. I have absolutely no issue of any kind with what John Totrtarella did at all in any way. #4. The fine to John Tortarella was out of line and excessive by itself, but the additional taking of a 2nd round 2026 draft selection from the Las Vegas Golden Knights should result in the calling for Commissioner Gary Bettman’s resignation. #5. The NHL owners led by the owner of the Las Vegas Golden Knights Bill Foley should call for a no confidence vote, to remove and replace Commissioner Gary Bettman’s. #7. It’s apparently been clearly forgotten in all leagues, not just the NHL that League personnel inclusive of all executive management and the commissioner, all work for the owners, Club Owners do not work for the leagues are its commissioners. #8. Owners vote for and elect commissioners and they are there to serve at the pleasure of the Owners and clubs, not the other way around. #9. The Fine and the additional taking of a 2nd round draft pick of the 2026 entry draft from the Las Vegas Golden Knights, screams for a response from the Las Vegas Golden Knights “ala Al Davis, The Owner of the Oakland Raiders at the time, did to the NFL, reminding both the NFL of its limits and its commissioner at the time, Pete Rozelle of his limits as league commissioner, which was promptly understood after the lawsuit filed against the NFL was ruled in favor of then, Oakland Raiders Owner, Al Davis. That would be a proper response by the Las Vegas Golden Knights in this case. #10. Can anyone explain in today’s world why a designated area set up away from the locker rooms for questions, discussions or any other purpose has not been mandated across all sports? #11. The Montreal Canadiens are up 1 game to none against the Carolina Hurricanes? Montreal has had Carolina’s number all season long, can they knock them out in the playoffs and reach the Stanley Cup Finals? #12. The Las Vegas Golden Knights are now up 2 games to none against the Colorado Avalanche. #13. Could it be a Las Vegas/Montreal Stanley Cup Final? #14. How bad is Cale Makars injury?
Hello Hockey Fans, episode 211 of the Hockey Free For All Podcast has arrived and this weeks topics include- #1. The house cleaning in Toronto continues. #2. Would Bruce Cassidy really be interested in the Toronto Maple Leaf’s? #3. Is Edmonton really a destination desire of Bruce Cassidy’s, not unless McDavid’s camp does one heck of sales job. #4. The L.A. Kings are the perfect destination for Bruce Cassidy. #5. If the primary goal of Keith Pelley was to put his stamp on the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, goal achieved. #6. If this round of Changes in Toronto fails to produce a Stanley Cup within 2 years, Keith Pelley and all who are connected with him, have to be out. #7. Don’t be even remotely surprised if Austin Matthews determines he wants out of Toronto. #8. Toronto can’t let Matthews walk away for nothing, like they did with Mitch Marner. #9. If Toronto were to trade Austin Matthews, they would want? #10. The L.A. Kings are the perfect destination for Austin Matthews, Why? #11. The trade to L.A. works out exceptionally well for both the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, and Austin Matthews. #12. If Toronto really wants to dynamically shift their organization, and put everything that was in the rearview mirror quickly, then what about? #13. The Toronto Maple Leaf’s change everything at the draft with this pick. #14. Perhaps the Toronto Maple Leaf’s switch places with the San Jose Shark’s? #15. It’s an immediate organization reset on the fly. #16. It’s rumored that Kris Knoblauch is an analytics kind of guy. If that’s true, G.M. John Chayka and Leaf’s CEO Keith Pelley will be all over him. #17. Kris Knoblauch fits Toronto to a tee. #18. Kitchener Ranger Head Coach Jussi Ahokas is the outside the box choice for Toronto. #19. The Laval Rockets out, Montreal calls up Adam Engstrom, Owen Back, Florian Xhekaj and David Reinbacher to gain NHL playoff expectation experience. Unlikely, they see any actual ice time #20. Although David Reinbacher has played well when healthy this year, his injuries must be extremely concerning to management. #21. Is Arber Xhekaj’s size the problem the NHL has with him? #22. Jakub Dobes is playing lights out hockey. 4th in the Calder Trophy voting behind three players who were drafted 1st, 3rd and 5th overall in their drafts respectively. Not bad for a guy drafted in the 5th round of the 2020draft with 136th selection. #23. Kris Knoblauch was not the problem in Edmonton! Fire the right people next time. #24. The Carolina Hurricane are just plain scary. #25. The Colorado Avalanche are in their own element and just toying with their oppositions. #26. The Sedin brothers in as new Co-Presidents, Ryan Johnson in as new G.M. in Vancouver. Now finish it with hiring either Kris Knoblauch or Manny Maholtra as the next Head Coach.

Jacob Fowler has serious competition now to be the Montreal Canadiens number one goaltender of the future. #3. Hopefully, the Montreal Canadiens are planning on retaining and signing interim goaltending coach Marco Marciano to a long-term contract. #4. Kings in round 1 in 4 straight games. #13. The Colorado Avalanche are now crushing the Minnesota Wild in round 2 with 9 to 6 and 5 to 2 in the first and second games of this series. #14. SURPRISE! The Ducks and Golden Knights get to face-off. This will be fun. #15. No one can even remotely figure out what the Toronto Maple Leaf’s are doing. #16. Mats Sudin joins the Toronto Maple Leaf’s as their new Senior Executive Advisor. #17. Absolutely, no one in the hockey world can figure out the hiring of John Chayka as General Manager in Toronto. #18. Mats Sundin joins a long and accomplished list of exceptional player talent that has risen to executive management role after their playing careers have concluded. #19. You have to take a listen to the Leaf’s press conference announcing these hiring, and here what Media member, Steve Simpson had to say about it. In a word, WOW! #20. Apparently, the issues with John Chayka go far deeper league wide than just within the former Arizona Coyote’s organization/franchise. #21. There is no way that these moves have improved the odds of, or have they even remotely enhanced that chances of team Captain Austin Matthews staying around long-term in Toronto. #22. Is Craig Berube coming back? #23. The Leaf’s somehow won the draft lottery. #24. Does winning the draft lottery influence Austin Matthews decision to stay or go in any way? #25. Changes in Toronto result in a Stanley Cup within 2-years or there are likely a lot more changes coming in Toronto. #26. Victor Hedman was dealing with Mental Health Issues.

Who is the solution as the opposite winger to Cole Caufield on Nick Suzuki’s line, Kirby Dach or Alex Newhook? #3. Who is the solution at center on the 2nd line to feed and distribute pucks to wingers Ivan Demidov and Jaruj Slafkosky? Is it Alex Newhook or Kirby Dach. #4. Does Alex Newhooks speed and hand skills make more sense on Nick Suzuki’s line or does Kirby Dach’s size and previous chemistry make more sense? #5. Is Alex Newhook’s speed more valuable in between wingers Juraj Slafkovsky and Ivan Demidov or is Kirby Dach’s size and previous chemistry with Juraj Slakovsky more valuable on the 2nd line? #6. He has not found his role or spot on the team at all. #8. Bolduc’s play has significantly lowered any contract demands that he or his agent can make. #9. Does Montreal let Zack Bolduc test the market this summer? #10. The roles and futures of Zack Bolduc, Kirby Dach and Oliver Kapanen have changed with the decisions of Michael Hage and Alexander Zharovsky. #11. Is Juraj Slafkovsky hurt? #12. The bottom 6 offensive spots are even more interesting than the top 6 offensive spots are. #13. Florian Xhekaj and Sam Harris are serious 3rd line considerations in 2026/2027. #14. Montreal’s defense looks really good. #15. Mike Matheson needs rest. #16. Noah Dobson should only return when he absolutely ready and can play his game, not a version of it. #17. Adam Engstrom should be inserted into the lineup, or everyone needs their minutes adjusted and balanced better. #18. It would be great to see Nick Suzuki win the Fank Silk Trophy this year. #19. Lane Hutson ties Larry Robinsons single season record of 66 assists by a Montreal defenseman. #7. Montreal Canadiens center prospect Michael Hage is returning to the University of Michigan. People should be congratulating him to for having the Forsyth and wisdom he has displayed at age 20. #8. Would it have been great to see and cheer for him in Montreal in the 2026/2027 season? Sure. But at the expense of his health or career. #9. Fantastic news for the New Jersey Devils organization. New Jersey Devils Ownership have swooped in and stolon Sunny Metha from the Florida Panthers Organization, before the Toronto Maple Leaf’s could. #10. With the New Jersey Devils hiring of Sunny Metha as their new General Manager, where does this leave the Toronto Maple Leaf’s? #11. It’s not just about players this week, it’s about General managers and Presidents of hockey clubs that have been relieved of their duties or that have stepped down. #1. Coaching changes in 2026. January 12th 2026 in Columbus, Dean Evason out, Rick Bowness in. March 1st 2026 in Los Angeles, Jim Hiller out, D.J. Smith in. March 29th in Las Vegas, Bruce Cassidy out, John Tortorella in. April 5th the N.Y. Islanders relieve Patrick Roy of his duties and name Peter DeBoer his replacement. #2. General Manager news. Toronto, March 30th 2026 General Manager Brad Treliving fired. No replacement named as yet. Sunny Mehta looks like the obvious choice. New Jersey, April 6th 2026 Tom Fitzgerald out as General Manager. No replacement named as yet, but one has to wonder if this clears the way for Matin Brodeur to assume the G.M. role as well? #3. Upper executive management of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s want to have far too much involvement in day-to-day operations. #4. Anyone who’s good at what they do wants no part of, or to be involved with any franchise, company or even in any type of relationship, that has any kind of, or any amount of micromanagement within it. #5. The injury list of the Florida Panthers this year is beyond eye opening. Here’s just the highlights Captain Matthew Tkachuk missed 47 games, Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart and Johah Gadjovich all gone for the season and many others gone for weeks or months. #6. Mats Naslund is keeping a close eye on Nick Suzuki, as he approaches the 100-point mark for the first time since Mat’s Naslund achieved it in the 1985/1986 season. Nick Suzuki has 98 and counting with the win against Tampa Bay last night. #7. 41 years since a Montreal Canadiens player has reached 100 points, that is insane. #8. Cole Caufield hits the 50-goal mark in last night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, for the first time since Stephane Richer did in the 1989/1990 season. That too is insane. #9. Juraj Slafkovsky hit’s the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career in the game in last night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. #10. Dumbest trade proposal yet has Juraj Slofkavsky, Ivan Demidov a 2026 1st round pick, a 2027 1st round pick and Owen Beck to the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, and in return, Montreal received Austin Matthews and Michael Nylander. #11. Not only are Ivan Demidov and Juraj Slafkovsky better than Matthews or Nylander, but so is Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Lane Hutson, Kaiden Guhle, Arber Xhekaj, Noah Dobson, Oliver Kapanen, Michael Hage, Alexander Zharovsky, Bryce Pickford, Adam Engstrom, L.J. Mooney, Jakub Dobes and Jacob Fowler. #12. President of the Seattle Kraken Ron Francis has stepped down
