Prophecy holds a unique and powerful place within the Christian faith. Approximately one-third of Scripture contains prophetic teaching. Far from being relegated to the margins of Scripture, prophecy is a golden thread that ties together the past, present, and future, forming an essential foundation of Christian hope. In fact, the very promise of our forgiveness in Christ and living in eternity with God in heaven is all based upon a promise and prophesy of God Himself. Our entire faith is based upon His promises for those that love and follow Him. If that is true, why do so many churches avoid teaching eschatology (end times prophecies)?Join us today as we explore this important topic. Why Does God Instruct Believers to Gather Together and Live in Community? Some believers question that since we can pray and talk with God from anywhere, what difference does it make if we attend church or not?First, we should determine whether it’s God’s word that instructs believers to gather, or it’s just a “church thing” that some pastor came up with. And if God does tell us to gather together, does He share the reasons why?We think you’ll find the answers to these questions and their implications for your life valuable and fascinating, with perspectives you may not have considered. Today’s podcast is titled: Be Honest - If Prayer is so Important, Why Don’t We Pray More? I think you’d agree, that’s a pretty honest question, isn’t it? Most of us don’t like to admit it but we probably don’t pray as much as we’d like to or at least as much as we think that we should. Have you ever stopped to think about why that is? What is prayer and why is it important? The most basic definition of prayer is “talking and spending time with God.” God loves this exchange with His children, just as we love the exchange we have with our children. Fellowship with God is the heart of prayer. Too often we lose sight of how simple prayer is supposed to be. Join us today to discover the greatest impediments to a great prayer life and how to overcome them. You can find out more about us at Keepingfamiliesconnected.com.
What Does it Mean to Fear the Lord? If you’re outside of the kingdom and family of God, you need to fear His judgement. God’s power and Holiness are nothing to disdain or disrespect. His word makes the eternal consequences of rejecting His offer of love and forgiveness through His son Jesus Christ very clear. Okay. So that addresses those that aren’t Christians, what about those that are? Are we told to fear God as well? Yes. But it’s a different kind of fear. The fear of God for a child of God, is no longer the fear of judgement and eternal separation from a loving and all-powerful God. It’s reverence and respect for His Holiness, an overwhelming sense of gratefulness for His unconditional love, and the deep desire not to hurt or disappoint Him. Our love and reverence for God should be more than enough to keep us from sin. But unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Join us as we take a deeper look into what it means to fear The Lord.
