CRISIS MODE: Dallas Stars Place Matt Duchene on IR—How Will They SURVIVE Opening Night Without Him?

Dallas Stars face lineup uncertainty as Matt Duchene lands on IR ahead of the season opener against the St. Louis Blues. With salary cap constraints blocking any immediate call-ups, the Stars must navigate the early schedule by rotating 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. Can Glenn Goldson’s squad maintain momentum, or will Duchene’s absence haunt their offensive depth in crucial matchups against Nashville and San Jose? Joey Erickson breaks down the ripple effects of Duchene’s lower-body injury, exploring how Sam Steele, Justin Raskovian, and potential linemates like Kiviranta and Oscar Beck might step up. Key topics include the risk of line disruptions, strategies for managing minutes on the Dallas blue line, and how stars like Roope Hintz and Wyatt Johnston could shoulder new responsibilities. With goaltender Jake Ottinger’s status also in play, the discussion weighs if early adversity could become a blessing in disguise for the Stars’ playoff hopes.
