Woooo baby. We are talking spontaneous races, videos we regret making, why we never want to go viral, and trolls in our comments. Oh, and don't bring potato salad to the cookout. That's our take away this week, friends. We now have full video episodes up on Youtube! Check out the link on IG.
This episode starts with Laura trying to explain to Erica all of the drama happening in the run world this past week. But if that's boring to you (we get it) feel free to skip ahead to hear Laura and Erica's top 5 running songs of all time. Also we are on youtube now!
Ever get into a challenge with your friend that leaves you 2 miles away from your home in a thunderstorm at 11 PM? Ever text a crush accidentally and then panic and so you throw your phone battery in the trash can? If you can relate to any of these stories, then this episode is for you. Yeah, I don't know.
Erica and Laura are back with another chaotic episode of running, real life, and zero filter. This week: Erica's college-age son came home for the summer — and surprise, he moved apartments without telling anyone. Plus: Allyson Felix's comeback attempt, a spirited trail running debate, a jump rope progress report (spoiler: not great), the great underwear-while-running inbox explosion, and two listener Q&As about fueling through injury and running as a newly single mom. Oh, and beans. So many beans.0:00 — Kai's Secret Move — Erica picks up her son from college only to discover he secretly moved apartments seven months ago and never mentioned it.10:42 — Allyson Felix & the Pro Running Scene 16:30 — Olympics, Ilona Maher & the Village Condoms - Ilona Maher's viral post clarifying the real reason 1,000 Olympic condoms went "missing."20:00 — Trail Running Debate — Laura announces a Presidential Traverse hike; Erica makes her definitive case against trail running (spiders, snakes, slow pace, and the bear analogy all make appearances).29:34 — Jump Rope Update & Underwear Fallout — Laura's jump rope journey (pelvic floor included), plus the ongoing inbox explosion from the thong-vs-no-underwear running debate.36:46 — Running Gear, Chafing & the Utah Girlies — Marathon chafing confessions, Body Glide strategies43:03 — Listener Q&A: Fueling While Injured & Bean Talk — "How do you fuel when you can't run?"49:49 — Listener Q&A: Running as a Newly Single Mom — Heartfelt advice for a listener whose mileage has dropped since becoming a single parent. Erica shares her own experience post-divorce, plus practical tips on treadmills, babysitter hacks, and strength training.55:04 — Would Erica & Laura Run a Marathon Together? — A listener asks.
We are talking summer goals, schedule arguing, twerking next to snow mounds, stroller running, and updates on our journaling.
We are over here working on our core and prepping for an Ilona Maher summer. There's talk of Chicago bachelorettes, pole dancing, the Napa Valley Marathon, and we ended with a handful of listener questions which resulted in a debate about underwear. App we are all getting ripped on: forRunners (the icon is a little purple runner)
A long one! This episode was recorded in two parts. The first 25 minutes was when Erica and Laura met for the first time (!!) in Boston right before they went on stage for the ASICS Running Game Show. Then we continued with the weekend, one of us ran the Boston Marathon, and then we recorded a recap hour on Tuesday after the race.
Ep. 4. What are you all doing for safety while running in the dark? Hopefully not spraying pepper spray in your eyes like Laura. Today, Erica and Laura woke up at the ass crack of dawn to whisper-talk to one another before our families were awake. Which means Laura couldn't deep cackle and at times you can barely hear Erica's sarcasm. We got it done though. Volunteer work: Complete!
