Between jokes about casinos, near beer, missing jelly donuts, and long-term members surviving one another, Lila traces how the Steps moved her from fear and control toward honesty, hope, faith, willingness, humility, compassion, and service. Her point after a quarter century is simple but demanding: the outside life can look complete and something may still be missing, so recovery keeps asking her to stay present, make room, and trust that she never has to face life alone or take another drink.
