BJ Barham is the frontman, songwriter, and driving force behind American Aquarium, the Raleigh, North Carolina roots-rock band he founded in 2006 and has fronted for two decades. A blue-collar Americana storyteller who built the band on relentless touring, Barham writes plainly about addiction, hard-won sobriety, marriage, and small-town life. His breakout came with 2012's Jason Isbell-produced Burn.Flicker.Die., and he has since shared stages with the likes of Turnpike Troubadours and Drive-By Truckers as the lone constant through countless lineup changes. In June 2026 the band released New Ways to Lose, a Shooter Jennings-produced record that marks their 20th album in 20 years, and they are touring it coast to coast now, including a return to Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and a run of UK and Netherlands dates in November. Since its 2024 debut at Chase Field in Phoenix, the event has expanded to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where the 2026 lineup featured Jason Aldean, Creed, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and it heads to Tampa in 2027. He later worked in digital marketing and radio, and in 2013 he created the Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival in downtown Tyler, which sold out for six straight years. After the pandemic ended that run, Colston and his lifelong business partner founded Double Tap Entertainment and, in 2021, launched Troubadour Festival, a two-stage celebration of Texas barbecue and Country, Red Dirt, Americana, and Southern Rock now held in Celina and Bryan-College Station.Troubadour Fest is currently on hiatus, but is hoping to find a way to host the event in the future.Troubadour FestInstagram l Facebook l WebsiteEnjoy The Jarrod Morris Vibe?
