Ep 54: Beyond the Pink Jersey: Rick Dunetz & The Incredible Story Behind Dig Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and across the country, we’ll see pink all over the volleyball courts, from neon ribbons and matching socks to fully decked-out arenas. But behind the sea of pink jerseys lies an extraordinary story of hope, science, and a sport banding together to change lives. In this special episode of the Side Out Society Podcast, Lindsay opens up about her personal journey as a breast cancer survivor and how critical funding shaped her future and family. Then, Tiff and Lindsay sit down with Rick Dunetz, the founder and Chief Vision Officer of The Side-Out Foundation. Rick reveals the improbable origins of Dig Pink: from taking over an underdog high school squad on the very day of his mother's Stage IV diagnosis, to getting fired from his day job so he could follow his passion full-time. He shares how an accidental slogan from a t-shirt designer turned into a nationwide movement, why traditional clinical trials are failing metastatic patients, and how volleyball players are directly financing a groundbreaking precision oncology database that is given away for free.
