Ranked Top 2% GloballyDo you wish that you could lead your team in a way that honours and glorifies God? Are you struggling to overcome self-doubt as a leader and have a desire to be more confident in your role? Do you want the courage to deal with difficult people but don’t want to upset anyone?Well, you’re in the right place! On this podcast, I’ll teach you how to lead like Jesus, even if you’re not allowed to speak of your faith in your workplace. You’ll learn to become bold and confident as a leader, to speak up and say what God wants you to say and to finally know that you are worthy to be in your current role. Because God chose you, not because you are already a perfect leader, but because HE wants to mold you and use you to be an instrument in the kingdom of God. Hey, I’m Rika, and for the past 10 years, I’ve been in middle-management leadership roles, where I have led various teams, from big to small, and experienced my fair share of working with difficult people, having tough conversations, hiring and firing people and managing team dynamics. I thought that I could rely on worldly knowledge of leadership to get me through. I attended various leadership courses and listened to many leadership podcasts, but I was still struggling as a leader. I was feeling frustrated and to be honest, I was not enjoying my leadership role and felt like quitting more often than I probably should have!I finally realised that if I wanted to be the leader that I truly desired to be (which was a leader who wasn’t shy to speak up, a leader who honoured God with her actions and a leader who could build a cohesive team without the drama), I needed to partner with God and find a Christian leadership mentor to guide me and keep me accountable. I committed my leadership journey to God and partnered with HIM. I started working with a mentor and stepped out in faith as I did hard things every single day. And I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you!If you’re ready to lead your team in a way that honours God, I’m excited to be your mentor! So, grab your notebook and pen (and don’t forget that Chai Latte), and let’s unlock your God-given leadership potential!Next steps:Head to https://www.womenoffaithinleadership.com where you can:1. Burnout doesn’t always look the way we expect. Sometimes it looks like loving your job… but slowly losing yourself in it. Sometimes it looks like saying “I’m fine”… while quietly falling apart. And sometimes it shows up in your body before you even recognise it in your mind. In this episode, I’m joined by Carolon Donnally, Burnout Prevention Strategist and former Head of Leadership Coaching at the IRS, who shares both her personal journey with burnout and the leadership patterns that often lead women there. Together, we explore how burnout develops over time, why high-capacity leaders are often the most at risk, and what it looks like to build a leadership life that is sustainable, healthy, and aligned with God. In This Episode We talk about: • the early warning signs of burnout (including physical symptoms many leaders ignore) • how burnout can progress into emotional and even clinical exhaustion if left unaddressed • why high-achieving, responsible leaders are often the most vulnerable to burnout • the hidden patterns that create burnout — including people-pleasing and over-responsibility • how work can subtly become an identity or even an idol • why saying “I’m fine” can mask deeper struggles • the importance of recognising emotional and physical signals early • how leaders can better support their teams and identify burnout risks • why burnout is not just an individual issue — but also an organisational one • the powerful question every leader should ask: “At what cost is this getting done?” A Key Leadership Shift - Burnout isn’t always a sign you’re doing something wrong — but it is a signal that something needs to change. Sustainable leadership requires: • boundaries • self-awareness • identity rooted in Christ • and the wisdom to pause when needed About Carolon Donnally Carolon Donnally is a Burnout Prevention Strategist and speaker who equips women of faith and leadership to break free from the cycle of overwork and exhaustion. As a former federal leader and Head of Leadership Coaching at the IRS, she brings over two decades of experience in leadership, coaching, and organisational development. Her work uniquely combines personal experience, research-backed strategies, and a deep understanding of workplace systems. Carolon helps both individuals and organisations address burnout at its root — empowering leaders to build cultures that support wellbeing, sustainability, and long-term impact. Healthy feedback is not about criticism. It is about helping people grow, improve, and succeed. In this episode, we explore how leaders can give feedback with both clarity and compassion, so conversations strengthen trust rather than damage relationships. In This Episode We discuss: • Why many thoughtful leaders hesitate to give feedback • The hidden cost of delaying difficult conversations • How to focus feedback on behaviour rather than personal criticism • Why clarity is one of the greatest gifts a leader can give • How expressing confidence in someone's growth changes the tone of feedback You’ll learn practical ways to approach feedback conversations with wisdom, professionalism, and Christ-centred leadership. Leadership conversations are rarely about the words alone. Sometimes a team member says everything is fine, yet something still feels unsettled. Other times a conversation seems clear on the surface, but deeper tension remains beneath it. One of the most important leadership skills you can develop is the ability to listen beyond the surface. In this episode, we explore how leaders can learn to listen more like Jesus — paying attention not only to what people say, but also to the deeper concerns, emotions, and challenges that may remain unspoken. In This Episode We discuss: • Why people often say less than they truly feel in workplace conversations • How leaders can recognise subtle signals that something deeper may be happening • The role of thoughtful questions in uncovering hidden concerns • Why listening well strengthens trust and leadership influence • What Scripture teaches us about listening with wisdom and compassion You will also learn how slowing down conversations and asking better questions can reveal insights that help you lead your team more effectively. What if the behaviour you’re seeing… isn’t the real issue? In this powerful and deeply meaningful conversation, I’m joined by Dr Melanie Gray to explore what it truly looks like to lead people with compassion, discernment, and Christlike understanding. Together, we unpack how trauma — both personal and generational — can shape the way people think, respond, and show up in the workplace. And more importantly, how as Christian leaders, we are called to see beyond behaviour… and lead with the heart of God. This episode will gently challenge the way you view difficult people and remind you that leadership is not just about performance — it’s about people, healing, and creating environments where others feel safe enough to grow. In This Episode We explore: • what trauma-informed leadership actually means in everyday leadership • how past experiences can shape present behaviour • why resistance, disengagement, or emotional reactions are often rooted in pain • the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence as a leader • how to lead with compassion without losing clarity or authority • what it looks like to create safe, healing environments in your team • why leadership is ultimately a form of ministry A Key Leadership Truth: What looks like difficult behaviour is often unhealed pain. And when you begin to see people through God’s eyes, your leadership shifts from frustration… to understanding. About Dr Melanie Gray Dr Melanie Gray is a registered nurse, educator, and faith-based leadership and wellness coach with over twenty years of experience in nursing leadership and higher education. Many leaders want to create a positive, supportive workplace culture. But sometimes in the effort to keep things harmonious, something important quietly disappears: accountability. When expectations are not addressed clearly and difficult conversations are delayed, teams can slowly drift into patterns where problems repeat, standards drop, and frustration builds beneath the surface. The truth is that healthy accountability is not about criticism or micromanagement. It is about creating a culture where people understand expectations, take responsibility for their work, and trust that issues will be addressed with wisdom and fairness. In this episode, we explore what healthy accountability really looks like in a Christ-centred leadership context and how leaders can begin strengthening this culture within their teams. In This Episode We discuss: • Why accountability is often misunderstood in leadership • How avoiding difficult conversations quietly weakens team culture • The role clarity plays in creating healthy accountability • Why accountability should be a normal part of leadership, not a rare intervention • How addressing issues early protects both relationships and team morale • The courage required to lead conversations that create alignment and growth You will also learn why accountability is not about control, but about protecting the health, clarity, and integrity of the team. Prepare for the Difficult Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding If you know there is a conversation you need to have but you’ve been unsure how to approach it, the Confident Conversation Sprint will help you prepare for it step by step. 📅 May 25–29, 2026 This 5-day guided experience walks you through a simple process to prepare for one difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding. Have you ever walked away from a leadership moment and thought: "I knew exactly what I should have said… but I didn’t say it." Many capable leaders experience this frustrating gap between knowing what good leadership looks like and actually responding that way in the moment. You replay the conversation later. You think of the words you wish you had said. You wonder whether you handled the situation correctly. The truth is, this struggle is far more common than most leaders realise. The challenge usually isn’t a lack of wisdom. It’s the pressure of the moment. When emotions are high, when someone becomes defensive, or when the situation feels tense, even experienced leaders can hesitate, soften what needs to be said, or delay a conversation entirely. This is what I call the consistency gap — the space between what you know is wise and what you actually say or do in the moment. In this episode, we explore why this gap happens and how leaders can begin closing it through preparation, clarity, and Christ-centred leadership wisdom. In This Episode We discuss: • Why even experienced leaders hesitate in difficult conversations • How emotional pressure affects leadership decisions • The hidden burden of carrying responsibility for everyone else’s emotions • Why delaying conversations often makes situations worse • How preparation helps leaders respond with calm authority instead of reacting emotionally You’ll learn why confident leadership is rarely about personality or boldness. Instead, it grows from clarity, preparation, and wisdom grounded in Scripture. Prepare for the Difficult Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding If there’s a conversation you know you need to have — but you keep putting it off — I want to invite you to join the Confident Conversation Sprint. 📅 May 25–29, 2026 This is a 5-day guided experience designed to help you prepare for one difficult conversation you’ve been avoiding. Have you ever walked away from a leadership conversation and thought, “Why did I say it like that?” Or maybe the opposite — you didn’t say what needed to be said at all. Communication becomes far more complicated when leadership, expectations, and emotions are involved. Even very capable leaders can struggle to express difficult messages clearly without sounding harsh, apologetic, or uncertain. In this episode, we unpack five common communication mistakes that even smart, thoughtful leaders make — especially when navigating difficult conversations with their teams. You’ll learn why these mistakes happen, how they quietly weaken your leadership authority, and what it looks like to communicate with clarity while still leading with grace. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why communication becomes harder when leadership pressure and emotion are involved The most common mistake leaders make before a difficult conversation even begins How over-softening your message can unintentionally create confusion Why over-explaining often signals insecurity in leadership communication The danger of delaying conversations that need to happen sooner How preparation helps you stay calm and clear in emotionally charged moments If difficult conversations sometimes leave you replaying what you said — or wishing you had said something differently — this episode will help you begin approaching those moments with greater clarity and confidence. Next Step: Difficult Conversations Script Pack If difficult conversations are one of the areas where you often think, "I know what needs to be said… I just don’t know how to say it well," I created something specifically to help with that.
