Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast. This is the Dhamma session on "Developing an Unblemished Mind", which was was conducted via zoom. We deep-dive into Venerable Sāriputta and Venerable MahāMoggallāna’s teaching in the Anaṅgaṇa Sutta (MN 5). In this teaching, Venerable Sāriputta spoke of four persons - with and without blemishes and knowing it and not knowing it - explaining which were called inferior and superior using a simile of a bronze dish. He then gives a masterclass on evil, unwholesome wishes associated with anger and bitterness as blemishes, with some powerful similes to help us understand how to develop an unblemished mind. And Venerable MahāMoggallāna contributes as the questioner to Venerable Sāriputta's clarifier in this teaching, as well as providing a comprehensive summary at the end rejoicing in Venerable Sāriputta's instruction to the bhikkhus.Blessings of the Triple Gem. Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series PodcastThis is the Dhamma talk with Metta Centre (SYD) on "Why we should become skilled in the ways of our own mind". This session was conducted via zoom. Drawing from the Sacitta Sutta (AN 10.51), we will examine the Buddha's teaching on how to become skilled in the ways or nature of our own mind. The Buddha taught to train our minds as if our clothes or head were on fire. Through this, and another simile, he highlighted the benefit of regular self-examination towards abandoning unskilled states and developing skilled states of the mind. In this session, we will explore how we can apply this powerful teaching, which helps us to establish contemplation of the mind, undertake noble washing and activate the noble eightfold path.Blessings of the Triple Gem.
