It feels like everyone around us is overwhelmed right now, so today we’re getting into why everything suddenly feels like a lot. We’re coming out of winter, the weather is warming up, life is getting busier, and there’s suddenly this pressure to get back into gear. Steph had a particularly big day at the passport office and kinder, which got us talking about admin, the mental load, and the fear of becoming the mum who needs to be reminded about everything. We’re unpacking why the little things can suddenly feel huge, the pressure to keep up with everything our kids are doing, and how motherhood can change your relationship with your own time, identity and priorities. Plus, we’re talking about what actually helps when you’re feeling overwhelmed, and why your “village” might look very different to what you imagined. View the comments on Laura's daycare video here. Today, we're so lucky to be sitting down with Shameless Media co-founder, Michelle Andrews. Mich was around 25 weeks pregnant when she found out her beautiful mum, Vicky, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer. Living with the fear that her mum might not meet her baby, and then losing Vicky just months after giving birth, profoundly shaped Mich's relationship with motherhood, healthy anxiety, and grief. After a traumatic birth experience with Sadie, Mich shares the fears and emotions that have started to arise as she thinks about her next birth experience. Content note: This episode contains themes of postnatal depression and anxiety, miscarriage, and traumatic birth experiences.
